Young Actors Ababú

The young Ababú actors was created through a school production in Gaelscoil na bhFál in 2001 when Máire Andrews co-produced a drama for the whole school, and over one hundred children appeared on stage. We have continued and extended this work where children as young as nursery level through to primary seven participate. The older children carry the main body of the script. This type of drama is influenced by Greek choral theatre, where all the actors are onstage, enacting the piece using various dramatic technique, including storytelling, miming, music and song.

Each Saturday, we offer a three-hour session in Áras Mhic Reachtain, on the Antrim Road, to children between the ages of four and twelve who are interested in drama. They learn the technique of acting, learning scripts, creating sets and props and how to put the whole lot together in a final production onstage.

Child protection is one of our main responsibilities. All our staff have been checked by the police through Access NI.
